The Idea Farm

I got to stop in Omaha for my first Berkshire meeting this weekend.  Charlie Munger had a great quote about how following other successful investors was a good idea - if anyone caught it or has a link to it please pass it along as I must have been at the snack bar... I've also had a good time as...

Travel: Omaha

I'll be at the Berkshire meeting this weekend as well as the Value Investing Congress.  Drop me a line if you are around to meetup! I will also be in Alabama May 24-28 and France the second week of June.  I'm open to a side trip or two while in Europe so likewise let me know if you'll be around...

Nice post by Scott Bell on the challenges many in the tech/VC world face when trying to disrupt the investing landscape. Click to enlarge:

US 10 Year Bond Yielding 0.5%

I spend a lot of time chatting with institutions, and universally everyone hates bonds.  HATES them.  Everyone KNOWS bonds are in a bubble.  You can see in the below chart from Barron's and Bespoke that there is not more consensus anywhere than being bearish on bonds. Looking back on the last few posts, if I was interviewing at a fund today I would search for every exec at the firm for unclaimed property (as well as for the firm itself).  You very well might find enough to cover...

Claim Your Cash

Since it is tax time make sure to make your way over to the NAUPA site here and start your search for any unclaimed property.  As always I'll post if anyone finds anything big and juicy, last year we had the largest single claim so far : $10,000, with total claimed by readers around $20,000... Old post below for background: As tax season...

Getting a Hedge Fund Job

If you are looking for a job at a hedge fund and you are not applying to the Ira Sohn contest then you really don't want a job.  No brainer.

Berkshire Meeting

Would like to hear from readers if you think the Berkshire meeting in a few weeks is worth attending.  I'll be flying back from GA, and really have no reason to go other than the theater and experience of it.  It coincides with the Value Investing Congress which I would drop in on too... Anyone going to be there?

Template For Understanding What Is Going On

Updated with the last two reads, which are good. I had not seen that Bridgewater updated all of their research pieces, well worth a read: A Template for Understanding Risk Parity is About Balance Engineering Targeted Returns and Risks An In-Depth Look at Deleveragings Why Countries Succeed and Fail Economically

AlphaJuice Monthly

Question for my readers, would you be interested in a monthly e-book/magazine that had about 10-20 of the best articles from the web on portfolio management, trading ,etc each month?  I imagine it would be available online as well as possibly on Amazon, and say $5 per month or $50 per year price range. The model is Hacker Monthly, also here....
